Water Heaters & Tanks

Water heaters use energy sources to heat water above its initial temperature. Typically people use hot water for cooking, cleaning and bathing, and space heating. Hot water and water heated for steam have many industry uses. Water is normally heated in large pots, kettles and/or cauldrons. These mediums, however, do not produce a continual supply of hot water. Water heaters are appliances that produce a continual supply to homeowners. Other appliances providing continual supplies of hot water are boilers and heat exchangers. Water heaters typically deal with potable water sources.

Typically, natural gas, oil, and some solid fuels are the most common energy sources to heat water. Electricity is often used to consume these fuels, but they can be consumed directly. There are alternative energies like solar, heat pumps, and geothermal power used in conjunction with gas, electricity, or oil. Hot water is essential in preventing many contaminating bacterium.
