Patios, Walks, Walls, etc.

Hardscaping, in relation to landscaping, commonly refers to the laying/building of patios, walkways, walls, etc. These items generally are used to set-off the natural earth feel. Walkways typically use concrete, stone, brick, etc. to lead a pathway up to a house, building, or similar structure. Patios are often built for relaxation or social gatherings behind homes or enclosed within other buildings.

Walls outside of homes and other structures are often built for retaining purposes. Stone and concrete walls hold up graded slopes so water does not destroy the landscape. Boundary walls include privacy walls, boundary-marking walls, and city walls. These walls can often eliminate boundary disputes between neighbors.
