Ceilings
Ceilings are overhead interior surfaces that usually cover the upper part of a room. They are not usually installed for structural support but used to cover the underside of another floor or roof. Cathedral ceilings are normally found in churches, which are generally tall in nature. Dropped ceilings usually hang anywhere from a few inches to many feet below the floor above. The reason behind this is to cover piping or wiring from above. They are fairly easy to perform maintenance on this way. Concave ceilings are curved and round. The purpose of this is usually acoustical related to reflect sound. Sometimes they are merely used for aesthetic appeal. Most historical buildings have colorful ceilings, containing paintings of famous people and nature-related themes. Some ceilings contain just beams, which are often structurally related. These are often subtle, yet very effective.
