Carpenters

Carpenters are skilled craftsmen performing a wide range of woodworking. Carpenters construct buildings, furniture, and many others structures and objects with wood. Most carpenters work outdoors, and the work is usually demanding. A carpenter must stay physically fit in order to endure heavy workloads. Most knowledge in woodworking is gained through experience, so nearly anyone can get into the trade. Those taking pride in their work can prosper in the industry. Many carpenters make a healthy living off the income.

Rough carpenters refer to those who perform framing, formwork, and roofing. They provide the basis for other carpenters to work off of. A joister is one who installs floor joists. Floor joists connect a structures frame for the floor. They are designed to provide strength to hold the weight of the structure. Floors are fastened to the joists. A joister also works with decks to provide support. Finishing carpenters complete the tasks not perfomed by framers and joisters. Typically they work on cabinetry, furniture, and fine woodworking. Trim carpenters specialize in molding and trim work. They install trim around doors, install baseboards, and crown moldings. Cabinetmakers perform fine and detailed work. They specialize in cabinets, dressers, chests, and other storage furniture.
