A shed is usually a one-story structure used for storage and workshops. Sheds vary in size. Around homes they tend to be small, and when used on farms they can be large. Some sheds are tin-roofed and other large wood-framed sheds have shingles. The larger barns and sheds usually contain windows and electric. Inexpensive sheds and outbuildings are usually available in kit form. These types of sheds are used for garden tools, lawn mowers, small tractor storage, etc. Sheds can also be used to store supplies, which are not fit for the home. These items include gas, oil, pesticides, etc. Sheds are a great way to maximize storage space. Hooks and shelves utilize space very well in confined areas like outbuildings.

Larger barns and sheds are usually constructed from large wooden timbers. Large barns allow for more hands-on activities such as wood-working, equipment repair, hobbies, etc. Some sheds may have small porches, which can be used to relax. Sheds can be customized with siding and trim to possibly match your home. Other options include benches, HVAC systems, and electrical outlets. An outbuilding designed for gardening often has skylights for maximum sunlight. Sheds store many other types of equipment like bikes, boats, hay, farm animals, etc.
